Vision and Learning Assessment
An assessment takes approximately one and a half to two hours. For younger children this may be less. It is important that the parents are there during the assessment and that there are no siblings present if possible, to allow full attention to be given to your child. A report will be written following the assessment with recommendations for ways to help your child.
Assessments include:
Accommodation
Acuity
Attention
Binocularity
Convergence
Depth Perception
Eye dominance
Fixation
Fusional Reserves
Gross motor skills
Peripheral Vision
Primitive reflexes
Tracking
Visual Perception
Recommendations may include prescribing spectacles and/or Optometric vision therapy (OVT). OVT is an individually designed programme depending on the needs of the child.
